About me

I first discovered counselling when I was referred to one many years ago.  The experience for me turned out to be life changing, It gave me the tools, knowledge and self belief to make positive changes in my life enabling me to form more honest and fulfilling relationships.

My journey in becoming a qualified integrative counsellor and a solution focused therapist took a while, as I was juggling bringing up my 3 children, working and studying.  I had many hurdles along the way that have helped me form a greater understanding of life and the issues it can throw at us all. Let me hold your hand and help you too, to make the changes to form more honest and fulfilling relationships with yourself and with others.

I now divide my time between, looking after my grandson, walking my 3 energetic springer spaniels with my husband, helping my youngest set up home and trying keep up with my daughter in law at our local rowing club.  Having this balance in my life helps me to work with my clients at my full potential.

You will find I am warm, funny, down to earth, real and honest, I understand that we all have dreams and goals and in order to achieve them we must first feel worthy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I gained my level 2 and 3 many years ago and then I had a break to bring up my family. I returned to college where I achieved level 4 in therapeutic counselling. During this time I volunteered at the Sunflower project, counselling women who have had addictions, abuse and traumas in their lives with the aim of supporting them during their journey. I have completed many continuous personal development courses in bereavement and loss, shame, using tarot cards and Russian dolls in our sessions which is a lovely way or wriggling into the subconscious.  TA(Transaction Analysis) 101, Solution Focused and I have also completed DBT level 2 to enhance my knowledge which keeps me up to date and will be of benefit to you too.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I will ensure you will have a safe, warm, non-judgemental space in which together we can navigate and explore any feelings or difficulties that you are looking to change in your life.

Being an integrative counsellor means I will respond to your needs by pulling on different approaches to counselling that will be individual to you. I will not give advice or a list of changes that I feel you need to do to help yourself to feel better, what I will do is help you discover your own way of understanding yourself and to provide you with the tools, which will help you, make these changes.

I am able to offer video call or telephone counselling.
